Home Connect has established a partnership with SmartThings, integrating the Home Connect enabled home appliances on the SmartThings platform, allowing SmartThings app users to add their Home Connect enabled home appliances to their SmartThings experience. Within the SmartThings app, users will be able to monitor and control their Home Connect enabled home appliances as well as include them in scenes and automations.
Create an account in the Home Connect app and connect your appliances in the Home Connect app. Go to the SmartThings app and press the “+”. Select either the appliance type such as “dryer” or the brand “Home Connect”, subsequently authorize the SmartThings app access with your Home Connect credentials and your Home Connect enabled home appliances will appear in the SmartThings app.
At first, you will be able to add washers, dryers, ovens, coffee machines and dishwashers to SmartThings. Further appliance types beyond these 6 appliances are on the roadmap and will be added in the future. If you wish to request that we add an appliance type, make sure to reach out to us as we would love to hear from you.
Home Connect is currently available in over 40 countries. As a prerequisite is to have a Home Connect account, consumers in these countries will be able to set up Home Connect in the SmartThings app.
Currently, the integration will not be available in China.
Home Connect enabled appliances will be available across all interfaces supported by SmartThings, including Smartphones, Tablets, Samsung SmartTVs, Smart Fridges and Smartwatches. Certain functionalities will also be available via the Bixby voice assistant (see below)
Through the SmartThings integration, some smart home platform functions of specific Home Connect enabled home appliances will also be controllable via the Bixby digital assistant. These limited functions include turning on/off and pause/resume and will only be available for washers, dryers, dishwashers and ovens.

To be able to add their Home Connect enabled appliances to the SmartThings app, a user will need to download, register and pair their appliance in the Home Connect app. This has to happen before being able to add them to SmartThings. Once the account is created and the home appliances are paired and available in the SmartThings app, the user no longer needs to continue to use the Home Connect app to continue to interact with their Home Connect enabled appliances in the SmartThings app.
Yes, a user needs to download, register and pair their appliance in the Home Connect app, before being able to add them to SmartThings. Without the Home Connect account and the home appliances paired, a user will not be able to grant SmartThings access and control to their appliances.
Yes, you can basically. Unfortunately with most of the appliance models rinses after switching on. In order to prepare a coffee, you need to wait until the appliance has finished rinsing and place your cup before coffee preparation can start. With selected models, the rinsing can be disabled.
