But how many of us know how to clean and maintain our machines? Have no fear, Home Connect smart home app can step right up to help you out and ensure your coffee machine is working at its best.
Clean machine = better beans
Home Connect is not a strictly speaking coffee app, but it does help improve the quality of your coffee. A clean coffee machine means better tasting coffee and a longer machine lifespan. What’s not to love? Water hardness, frequency of use and even types of coffee used can all factor into when your device needs some maintenance. Home Connect takes all this into account and saves you a lot of hassle. Select your coffee machine in the app, then press Statistics. Here you’ll find out exactly when you need to descale, along how many coffees your machine has made and some other useful information. Let’s take a look.
Knowing when to descale
Home Connect can tell you exactly when your coffee machine needs descaling, with an accurate counter that measures in cups. In the same section of Statistics you can also find out when you need to change your water filter, or clean the inside parts of your machine. Want to enable push alerts? Click on the Profile icon under Home in the top right corner for more settings. Here you can enable Push notifications for your coffee machineto tell you when to descale.
Water, instructions, action!
If Home Connect notifies you that it’s time for a clean then we’re going to need some water and a suitable descaler. The best way to do this is to use Siemens descaling tablets for automatic coffee machine machines, which are available from retailers or customer service. Instructions can be found in the Home Connect app, without needing to find your paper manual. Under the coffee machine appliance select Instructions for use, which gives you access to the whole manual (and an easy-to-follow step guide for descaling). Follow these instructions to the letter and you’ll help prolong your machine’s lifespan, which is good news for those of use who love coffee. Time to celebrate with a cappuccino?
