Want to cook like a pro? It’s all in the settings. You can easily adjust all the basic settings of your smart kitchen hob with the Home Connect smart home app, and there’s loads of exciting functions to discover. Curious? Then read on...
Does every pot need a lid?
Arguably the hob is the heart of the kitchen – especially a smart kitchen. This is where things are stirred, cooked, boiled or fried, which requires energy. With Home Connect, you can keep an eye on your consumption at all times. Select your Hob and click Settings. Here you can activate the Energy consumption display under Energy management. After cooking, the consumption is displayed on the hob, giving you kitchen insights such as whether it is more efficient to cook with a lid. Small spoiler: As a rule, you use 25% more energy without a lid.
Keep calm while cooking
Cooking isn't just about taste, it's also about tones. While we’re used to sounds from many of our technical devices, sometimes all we want is a little peace and quiet. In the app, under Settings andin the Sounds section you can find buttons to mute tones and operating signals. You can also set the duration of beeps for timer functionalities, choosing between 10, 30 and 60 second durations. Find out more about tones here.
Flexing on the cooker
Whether you’re cooking for a large family or preparing a meal for one, you can always get the right cooking area by flexibly adjusting the zone size. If you need a large area on your hob as standard, you can preset the FlexInduction zone under Settings and Cooking surface. This will heat a larger area automatically. If you prefer smaller pots, select the Separate setting. You can change these settings at any time directly on your appliance.
I like to move it
Another practical setting is MoveMode (Bosch), powerMove (Siemens) or Power Move (Neff). This mode can be found under the Control and Programmes setting. Here you can set a specific power level between 1 and 9 for the front, middle and rear areas of your hob. In
addition, there is also a Keep warm power level. The preset power level is switched on automatically as soon as you place your cookware on the respective position late. For example, you can cook with power level 9 at the front, then move the pan to the center and automatically simmer on power level 5, before placing it on the rear area, for the Keep warm power level.
Playfully simple, yet childproof
Small, curious hands can be tricky when cooking. To prevent accidents, you can activate the child safety lock for your hob via the app; which you’ll find under the Quick actions. In the settings, you can also specify whether you want to activate the childproof lock manually or automatically when you switch off the hob. While children can be tricky, there’s nothing tricky about using smart kitchen appliances with Home Connect.
